Gone are the days of "Big Chief" tablets and "number 2 pencils" and here are the days of computers and keyboards! Whether the older generation (myself included) likes it or not, technology is here to stay.
In watching the video on (ETEC assignment) I never really realized that this generation of children are considered "digital learners" what a unique title for the leaders of tomorrow.
Technology plays a vital role in every aspect of our lives. From cell phones, IPODS, PDA's, computers and laptops, the list is endless.
Just as technology plays a vital role outside the classroom, it plays an even more profound role inside the classrooms. Children virtually have the world at their finger tips.
Greatschools.net had a very interesting take on technology in the classroom. It states the following:
In some classrooms, iBooks have replaced textbooks. In others, students prepare video yearbooks that can be delivered to their classmates' cell phones. In still others, teachers ask students a question and they punch in the answers with "clickers" that look like TV remote control devices.
Hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent getting computers into classrooms, and teachers and students around the country are using technology in new ways. That raises two important questions for parents:"
1. How is technology being used to improve learning?
2. Are students developing the skills they'll need to understand and use it in the future?
How would you answer these questions?
